Invasion of the Body Snatchers

Here we are then. Today was a start of the week, and I have to say that today's Monday-factor was extremely high. I mean, I made all those little errors that don't cost you a lot of time, but do tell you of your high state of sleepiness. Ah well, you have to start your week one way or another, don't you? I was there 'till 17:15, as we had a final trailer to load after 16:00, and there were only two of us left to do so - the bulk of the team is already at Eindhoven, unloading.

Tomorrow in the morning We'll first have to load another trailer before joining them, and from there on it's going to be preparing for the fair. So like I said, this would be about it for the week, unless I manage to squeeze something in on Saturday.

Besides that, I didn't do a lot, as you might expect. In fact, there were a lot of things I didn't do today. To name but a few, I did not find a cure for the common cold, I did not save the life of a duck, I did not learn how to intentionally distort the gravitational field, and I did not sell my soul to anyone. Rather boring, then, as you may have seen.

So what is it that makes me write this, when I should be working on one of my other projects? Well, I guess you could call it boredom. I'd call it sloth, but I don't feel like calling it that at the moment. Besides, it's private projects, so there's no deadline. Ah well, you have to do something, right?

Anyways, as I have nothing more of interest to tell you right now, I'll stick to saying

See ya!

Finally! Some Beans!

Okay, so "I don't know what to write" from yesterday wasn't entirely true, as I did write something. But then again, it wasn't fit for this personal blog, so it ended up elsewhere. That's just the way things go if you want to keep your streams of thought anywhere near organized. If you really want to know, you can find it in the new link to the right (and slightly down). I can't guarantee you'll like it, though.

It also appears my StatCounter is having some problems. I have no visitors since Saturday, 08:01, if I have to believe what he says, yet I have at least one comment from beyond that specific point in spacetime. Or maybe PM was visiting from the past, using her yet to beinvented time-machine her future self will give her April 13th, 2054. You know, the one she got a couple of months ago, and has been using to check up on her friends so she could give them proper advice. That would explain her "Ask me anything" actions of late.

True to form, I barely managed to sleep again last night. I need to do so badly tonight, as next week is the Eindhoven fair (I know I'm repeating myself here), and I won't be around on a daily basis to tell you what I'm up to. My guess is I'll still be here tomorrow, and then possibly next Saturday, but nothing else besides these - definitely not on Tuesday that's for sure, as I'll be spending the Tuesday - Wednesday night at a Holiday Inn in Eindhoven, and they don't have Wireless in their rooms, the cheapskate bastards.

I was glad to see Sci/Doraemon has edited my card at the shop he works for so it says "simply not edible" on my receipts. Those are the little touches that make it worth your while, aren't they? It made me feel all fuzzy inside.

Also, I'm still sad that I have to miss next Sunday's music-games meet at the VG-store. I would really have loved to be there, but alas, my work-schedule is incompatible with my wishes.

Ah, it would seem SC is working on the problem - two of my "projects" are under maintenance right now. Good - I wouldn't want to miss out on all the keyword fun and all. This means it would probably be back soon.

Our cable network has given us NASN on trial - they rotate their trial channels every once in a while. All I've seen so far was Ice-hockey, Baseball and American Football, so sadly, my first impression is "all-boring all-day". No offence to my friends from accross the Atlantic, but this is just not interesting.

I would also like to thank Sci for his long-distance assistance and infinite patience battling through my stupidity. I finally - after four years behind the lock - have a region-free DVD player! Now I can finally get that DVD-collection up and running!

Ah, and my StatCounter is back - although I have a gap between Saturday 08:00 and Sunday 18:00, which is rather annoying. Ah well.

By the way, as you can see, this post was updated throughout the day. It makes it easier for me to write everything down.

But I think I'll leave it at this for the day, otherwise it'll get too lengthy. I think I'll be able to update somewhere this week, but otherwise, it's 'till Monday the 7th.

See ya!

The end of the day as we know it

Aah, this is just like me, isn't it? I wanted to get some rest today, but then I woke up early. I wanted to do some quick shopping, but I ended up touring town for about three to four hours, not even going where I wanted to go. And then I tried some things at home that didn't work out as planned. It's just one of those days, I guess. Ah well. You have to take the good days with the bad, don't you?

kajhljahgjafhgkjafhglkjahfdglkjahfgkjahg

Sorry, writer's block there. I really don't know what to write that could be remotely interesting today. I guess it's to be expected.

What I did do, though, was some minor tweaking to this little blog. It's in the sidebar, in case you hadn't noticed. I don't really like the way it turned out quite yet, so I'll have to figure out a way to make it look better, but I'll get down to that once I have some more time - most likely not for a week or so then. It's a work in progress, I'd say.

What else, then? It looks like I really don't know what to write tonight.

I'll stop trying, then.

See ya!

Speedy update

I'm watching a movie as I type this, so this post may be shorter than usual. Besides, not much going on on the news front, and I'll be needing to get as much rest as possible before the upcoming week, so I won't go to great length for the night - the less energy spent in this, the better.

The little news I do have, though, is I found out the location for Anime 2006 is the same as last year. I wanted to book a room in the hotel last night, but the bookings for the convention don't start for a couple of weeks. I'll re-book as soon as possible, then.

I'll be taking a 2-person room. I'm sure I can find someone willing to share. jzz is uncertain, but tachyon will probably go as well, so that seems the most logical option right now.

Other than that, well, not much going on as I said.

So then, I'll end it here.

See ya!

Yawn

I'm so glad - I had a full 7 hours of non-stop BitTorrent last night! That was totally unexpected. I still don't know what the problem was, but it seems fixed. Let's hope it stays fixed, then.

Work came and went relatively easy today, as well. It just seemed to pass by without any trouble. There's a lot left to do, though, and not enough time to do it all in, but you know, we're doing our best to get it all done in time. Stuff like that, we'll see how it unfolds. It'll all probably work out fine.

After work, I went to the VG-store like I was summoned to do. I was pretty low on energy, though, so I couldn't really do much. In fact, I almost fell asleep on the bench there tonight. And for some reason I found myself lying on the floor at one point. I wonder what that was all about.

Other than that, it's not much again. I don't feel like holding on to you for too long today, I want to get some reading done, just for relaxation - I'll need it.

If you want anything, though, just scream. Who knows, it might work.

See ya!

And now for something completely different

I lost track, what day was it again? Wednesday, you say? Oh well, that'll just have to do, I guess. Somewhere along the week I kind of lost track, but that's okay. It appears I've had at least half my week now, then.

So then, any news? Well, I ran into Tachyon again today, when I went shopping. We used the opportunity to catch up, but we'll have to find a more practical way of keeping in touch than these random encounters. It's not very practical. He said that after moving he'd get an internet connection again, which would be pretty damned handy.

I updated him on Anime 2006 - I found the date buried somewhere on their forum. It's June 30th - July 2nd, one week after our final Fair for this season. I'll book my days off tomorrow, then. Now, if only I could get my hands on a definite location - I'm guessing it's the same as last year, but I haven't found anything definite on that yet. Still looking, though.

Ahh... What else is there to talk about? Well, again, not much. I have a summoning to visit the VG-store tomorrow, so I'll have some more to tell you then, probably, but today you'll have to do with "not much news". So that's that.

But is that the end of this post? No, it's not. For you see, I still feel the need to hold your attention for a bit longer. I want to keep your attention somehow, so I'll try something different today.

*Puts on cheesy music*

*Starts a striptease*

*Stumbles while trying to remove jeans*

*Rolls off stage, breaking 3 glasses*

*Stands up again*

*Tries to run away, but falls due to jeans around anckles*

*Calls for help*

And with that, I leave you.

See ya!

Data Overflow

You know what, today was one of those days that gave me nothing to tell you about. Not much going on at the job front right now, just getting ready for next week. No recent VG-store visits to tell you about. No spectacular new achievements in any of my games. Nothing. Well, I found out I lack some vital piece of software to play MKV's, but that's all that's really new today.

So that means that it's one of those days where either there is a very short post, or one of those that goes on forever and never seems to end up talking about anything. Here we go then. It's Public Service Announcement time.

First off, I would like to congratulate my Belgian visitor finding me by Googling "Sportlife chewing gum shit happens". I don't know what the hell he was hoping to find, but I hope he found it. Someplace else. Somehow, I can't imagine what that's all about.

Then there's these two people from the States, let's call 'em "Tetris" and "Pacman" (you should know who you are). Are you enjoying yourselves? It seems like the two of you have been living on my blog these past days. And judging by your stats, I'd guess you're familiar with one another as well. Hmm... Identify yourselves, I dare you!

It's not like my local Doraemon. He doesn't comment either, but at least I know who he is. That's less bad - I mean, it's bad, he should comment and all. But hey, at least I can pick up his thoughts every now and then.

What should I be doing, then, these next few days? I should get back on Ouendan!, for starters, before I lose the feeling I barely had in the first place. Advance Wars and Nintendogs have been taking up all my time as of late. I need to get through at least the second difficulty-level, for heaven's sake. I'm not even down to Ready! Steady! Go! yet...

After Eindhoven, I'm getting myself a second dog. Sushi needs a companion while I'm at work, really. And even though this means I'll be spending even more time on the dog front, I can't wait to get on it.

Oh, I just remembered I need to hand in my ticket for the end of year lottery at the previously mentioned VG-store. I mean, the first prize may not be interesting (an X-box 360, go figure...), but second is a Game Boy Micro, and that would be a nice one to pick up. Ah well, I still have well over a month for that one, so there's no rush.

Next games on my to buy list: Mario Kart DS, Lost in Blue, Animal Crossing on NDS, and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and Pokémon XD on Cube. It was about time there was a fully-fledged Pokémon game on console, you know.

Too bad both AC and TP seem to have been moved back to next year - this might bring them too close to Revolution for me to really be able to focus on them. But I'll worry about that when the time is ripe - I think I'll just have to find some time again somewhere, especially for Zelda.

Still a load of DVD's I have to watch, as well. I can't seem to find the time for those lately. Off the top of my head I have still to watch HanaBi, One missed call, and half of the Record of Lodoss War, and I'm forgetting a load.

Same goes for reading. Not only do I have about 10 books waiting, I also have quite a bit of Manga to work myself through. I think I'll take some manga along for in the hotel next week, that might help a bit, but I have a load of catching up to do.

All in all, I seem set for at least another 6 months. If I ended up in the hospital for a while, I won't have to be bored, that's for sure.

Anyways, I'll end it here. Sorry for making this a "mental note" entry, but I just had to organise all of this someplace.

See ya!

The moment you've all been waiting for

Okay then, here come the answers, for those that were wondering. Too bad there weren't more players, but alas, that's the way it is, then.

1. False. Interesting to see how you all see me as a fully fledged foreigner. My mother was born and raised in France, my father, however was born here. He had an English mother and a Dutch father and grew up in South Africa, but he was born in the Netherlands. So I'm 25% Dutchman by blood.
2. False. My first paying job was at the auction house my father works for. However, as far as the tax-man is concerned, my gig at Laura Ashley's was my first.
3. Yep. This little bugger wakes me up every morning.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
4. Why of course I must. Only a one-way ticket will do nicely, thank you very much.
5. Sadly, this is true. I am still looking, I haven't even seen one IRL...
6. I know, this was a rather obscure thing. Sushi is my Nintendog. And it's true. 7 times out of 10, when we run into Poofle while I'm walking her, it ends up in a fight.
7. Indeed I did. It would have been 5 years this September. Too long, it was. I should have left 18 months sooner.
8. Easy one, wasn't it? Especially considering I talk about gaming in half my posts, I have a FF character for an avatar, and I have that link to my IGN-account that most of my regulars have clicked (I even have some games that are apparently so obscure IGN doesn't even know them...), this is, of course, False. I don't enjoy it. I love it! And you have PM to thank for me counting that one wrong for all of you!
9. I share my bed with Hamtaro. I really do. It may be scary to some, but I like the company.
10. I don't like it, but it is indeed true. I just can't seem to handle myself around a girl if I am romantically interested in her.
11. I have been to Scotland twice. The first time was for the Scotland v. South Africa Rugby Union game, the first Scottish win over a Southern Hemisphere team in 22 years it was, I believe, and the second time was for a couple of days in Edinburgh, exploring the town.
12. This is true. The key word here is wake. I can get up early for work, but I'm not awake. However, when I have some things to do, like, for example, the Anime-con, I'm wide awake from the get-go.
13. True this is. At school, the teachers somehow managed to rid me of every incentive to learn, even though I enjoy studying. It's just that I don't want to be forced into subjects I'm not interested in. And they make you read so many books that are just plain boring, that you don't feel like reading anything anymore. It's no fun. But once I recovered from that - which took me about two years, incidentally - I caught up as well as I could.
14. True. Believe it or not, I do get out sometimes. This was in my school-days, after Football training (that's Soccer to Yanks). I wasn't paying attention. I fell twice that week (I really wasn't paying attention!), the first time I hurt all over, but continued. The second time I felt nothing, yet I knew something was wrong. Funny how that works. I missed bowling with the class the next day because of it, and to this day my left arm is slightly underdeveloped.
15. Nope, not a single one. In fact, there is only one US-made comic lying around the place, and I got it for free. My thing is Manga, and I have a shit-load of those, although my collection is still far from where I want it to be.
16. Absolutely. Football is just for wussies, actually. They can't take a hit. Even when there's no-one around, they seem to fall down screaming these days. As for the American variety... Those are the worst. They pack themselves in protective gear, helmets and everything, and as soon as one even touches the ground, the game is stopped for a commercial break and some hopping cheerleaders to go Ouendan! on your arse. Give me a break, I much prefer the free flow of Rugby Union, thank you very much.
17. This is False. Deedlit is not my absolute favourite, but she is pretty darn close. If I had to pick one, it would without a doubt be Sakura, from Card Captor Sakura-fame.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
She just has it all, the great wardrobe, the cute-pet sidekick, the romance, the internal struggle to overcome herself, I just absolutely love her. Deedlit is close, so is Merle from the Vision of Escaflowne, but Sakura is the best.
18. In 2004, I attended the Kart-RAI in Amsterdam. The track was 1500 m., the longest indoor track in the world. In 2005, they were there again, this time with 2 extra bends, adding an extra 100 meters. I missed it, sadly. So this one is False.
19. Of course not. Why stick to one genre when there are so many great games to play. The only thing I don't seem to do is RTS for some reason. Must be because I'm mostly console-based. We'll have to see how Revolution'll handle those.
20. It took me well over an hour to decide what to put down here. I had to balance the nuber of trues and falses, I had to come up with some good falses, I had to make sure I didn't put anything up I didn't want to talk about, so the list got edited several times. It was hell coming up with 20 of them good enough to post. Some of those that made it through (4, 8 and 19) were too easy in my opinion, although you all seemed to have trouble on 8... Anyhow, this is about as False as they get.

So that means that, according to my semi-official scoring system - which is always open to discussion and/or bribery, LIW scores 14, PM scores 13, Chuck scores 12 and Fuzz scores 10. I'm glad no-one aced it, as that would have been rather embarassing.

That's all for today, folks.

See ya!

Return of the Post

Ah, the weekend. Two days, for a change, of total, utter nothingness. Well, that's not entirely accurate, but still, it covers the largest part of it all.

Yesterday was Faerie's Birthday-party, and I was invited, so I had to come up with something to give her. Thankfully, jzz gave me a tip to buy a plant, so I did. And on top of that, I got her a funny little "blob"that laughs rather demonically when you squeeze it. I just couldn't resist being me, on that one.

Oh, and I took the opportunity - as I was in the toy-store anyways - to buy myself a 10" MegaMan. Which is absolutely, totally fantastic! I never find those things in this country, so as soon as I do, I just can't let that chance pass by!

On another note, I'm having some trouble with my BitTorrent. It seems to throw me off-line after a couple of minutes. Now, I have no trouble with waiting a couple of hours for my downloads to complete, but it would be nice if I didn't have to restart my computer after about 5 minutes instead of just letting it run all day. Anyone familiar with this problem? I mean, it works for Kazaa, so why would BitTorrent make a problem out of it?

The answers to my 20 things will come either on Monday or Tuesday, and I'm considering not tagging anyone again, unless some masochist decides he/she/it want's him/her/itself tagged, but then at least you won't be able to blame me for any psychological harm done.

Besides that, then, it's one week and then I have the Eindhoven fair. Going to be busy again. So that means there will be yet another week soon when I will probably be unable to post, or at least not daily.

That will be the end of today, then.

See ya!

Meme from across the North Sea.

So now we have a Fuzz responsible for spreading memes as well. So here's the deal. I tell you 20 things about myself which may or may not be true. You then tell me in the comments what you think is and what you think isn't. Some of them will be easy, some of them won't. It's supposed to be fun. So then let's give it a try.
  1. None of my parents were born in this country (being the Netherlands).
  2. My first job was at a women's clothing store.
  3. I have a Shin Chan Alarm Clock waking me up every morning.
  4. I absolutely must go to Japan at least once in my life.
  5. I'm still looking for a Virtual Boy.
  6. Sushi doesn't seem to like Poofle very much.
  7. I spent more than 3 years at my previous job.
  8. I enjoy playing a good videogame.
  9. I share my bed with Hamtaro.
  10. I have never had a girlfriend.
  11. I have yet to leave the European Mainland.
  12. I can only wake up early if I have plans of my own.
  13. The first book I read after leaving school was Charles Darwin's On the Origin of Species.
  14. I broke my arm falling off my bike.
  15. I have a large collection of DC Comics.
  16. I enjoy watching a game of Rugby Football more than I enjoy Association Football, let alone American Football.
  17. My overall favourite Manga/Anime character is Deedlit, the Elf from the Record of Lodoss War.
  18. I've raced the longest indoor-karting track in the world.
  19. When it comes to videogames, I'm not the kind of person who sticks to only one genre.
  20. Coming up with these was easy.
That's it for the day. I'm sorry for not including a long story about nothing, but hey, deal with it!

I'll post the answers in a couple of days, so play along if you wish. I'll decide who to tag (if anyone) then.

See ya!

Sadly, due to internet-complications, I cannot make too long an entry tonight. Sorry.

Look! It's a bird!

Well then, here goes nothing. Today at work was, well... Let's just say we got through it alive. Talk about low-battery! It wasn't just me, it was all of us! Absolute hell trying to get anything done, and when you managed, about 1 times in 4 it all went and took on a very pear-like shape. We were all just glad to get the day over with, that's for sure!

Just one of those days, you know. Everything went wrong. Getting the wrong books. Pricing the wrong books. Thinking you priced the wrong books, removing the prices, only to realize you didn't... Ugh! Let's just say we're still recovering.

Someone from Malaysia got to my blog by googling SNE for a search. I did the same, and found amongst other the Society for Nutrition Education (teaching you what's edible!), Sony Stock (what the...)(Forbes: "Stock shows Strongly Deteriorating Conditions." Damn! I´m decreasing!), a list of pages on SuperNovae (still reaching for those stars), Swingin' New England (Heh!) and some stuff on fish.

I also stumbled across a new incoming link, to which I have retaliated in my own liks section. Next time, tell me! You're lucky I got nosy when checking my pagestats, otherwise I would have missed it! And even then, don't always check all the way, so it's a good thing I saw Fuzz's buttons!

What I also wanted to share with you today is this. Some of you might know it already, I don't know where it originated, but I found it absolutely hilarious!

So then, what else is there that I can share with you today? Well, I could go on to say that I opened a portal to an alternate plane of existance, but then you'd probably think I'd gone completely bonkers. Even though it's right here, glowing green in the back of my room. I'm telling you, playing chess with Dorúdhths is highly overrated. Those three-headed creatures just seem to lose their temper way too quickly.

Other than that, today was a slow news day. So I'll leave it at this, okay?

See ya!

Tuesday, October 18, 2005

Huh? Oh!

Well, all back to as normal as I'm likely to get. Work again today, and it went pretty well all things considered. Sure, we all had trouble getting started again, but that much was to be expected.

After work it was right back home and relaxing, as I need some rest right now, obviously. So that makes for a day where I can't say anything more interesting than "I played some games". Nintendogs and Advance Wars: Dual Strike to be exact. They're totally different, but both very enjoyable!

So besides that, then, it's not much going on here. I could go and write a long post about how I'm doing nothing, but as I'm gaming right now, that's going to be slightly difficult. Ah well.

I'll probably give you one of my long non-sense posts later in the week - I feel one coming up. So untill then, it's

Once in a while

And here we are again! Don't worry, I'm still very much alive! The hours last week were long, but it's all over for a couple of weeks.

And I even had some time to go karting on Saturday night! Imagine that! By the way, the track was slightly altered since the last time I was there, so we had to get the hang of that new little bend.

The whole Brussels thing was rather tiring. Tuesday was "Waking-up-at-an-unholy hour-day" as we left for Brussels at 06:00. Now, if there's one thing you should know about me, it's that I omniloathe waking up that early (04:30 in this particular case). I was glad I could get some extra shut-eye on the road! The night was spent in a hotel there, and it was only on Wednesday that we got back to IJsselstein - at around 22:00.

Sunday - the final day - we all went back to Brussels to break it all back down. We were busy 'till 23:00, and I only got back home at 02:15. Yet, this morning, I still woke up early, as I had to go to my VG-store again - my last visit, the Nintendogs one, was an unauthorized one.

So then, all work and very little play makes for a rather short entry after a whole week of non-blogging, but it's an update. I'm sorry if I disappointed you here, but it's all I could think of right now.

See ya!

And then there were none

PureMood is at it again... *Grumble*

1. Go into your archive & find your 23rd post.
2. Find the fifth sentence (or closest to & share the text of the sentence with these instructions.
3. Tag five to do the same.

"It's a good thing that I can get some sleep tomorrow-morning, when I start at the more humane time of 12:00."

Ooh, I wish! The Irony of it all! Oh, and go tag yourselves, by the way. I'm not being held accountable.

So then, today... Today.

Ah yes! Today was when I attended the lecture on Cosmic Disasters! Four types of, erm, "problems" were discussed. First was the reversal of the Earth's magnetic poles, which would cause a big problem with the protection of our atmosphere from smaller particles.

Next the talk went on about Ice-ages and their possible cosmic causes, such as slight oscillations in the Earth-axis' tilt, avg. distance to the sun and the Sun running through clouds of interstellar dust on it's orbit of our Galaxy.

Then we had the obvious meteorite impact, which I don't think I'll have to explain considering some fairly recent Hollywood movies.

And finally it was nearby Supernovae causing Gamma Ray bursts, sterilising most of life and decimating the ozone-layer.

So that was fun! Certain Doom is always a fun subject, isn't it?

Sometime after that, jzz came by. We finally managed to get my WiFi up and running. Woohoo! My bedroom's laptop is now online. This might turn out to be a dangerous thing!

Sushi won her second Frisbee-catching competition today. She seems to be getting good at it! And she's made lots of friends in the park as well.

Other than that, well, next week is busy. I don't know when my next couple of updates will be. But they'll come, that's for sure. Untill then,

See ya!

What do you mean "post"?

Well, today wasn't real busy - I needed the rest badly.

What I did get, though was a great deal at my VG-store. So I'm now the proud owner of Nintendogs. I got the Lab version, and got myself a Shiba Inu, which I then called Sushi. She's just too cute!

Which covers about all the exciting stuff for today. I'm still awaiting a visit from jzz, but seeing as he's been busy all week, he just has his priorities set straight.

So then, short again today. And with the upcoming week, that might seem unfair, but I'll see what I can manage tomorrow.

See ya!

That's the sound of your brain cracking

Argh. Today was not all that fantastic. I woke up at 04:00-ish, which was way too early for my doing. I didn't leave my bed, but still, once I had to go, I had the feeling of a giant nail pinned into the back of my skull. I had that nasty headache all morning, which wasn't pleasant to work with.

I imagine next Tuesday will be even worse: I'll have to get up at around 04:30, to be in IJsselstein at 06:00. This doesn't fit into my system well. Actually, it doesn't fit at all.

Yesterday after work I visited my VG-store. It was a very busy day in their lounge-area, and we stayed 'till around 21:00, so I only got home late yesterday. It was fun being there again - it's been a week - and seeing everyone there as is almost usual. Nice to see how a store can also act as a social hangout for some people.

Sadly, I don't have anything besides a headache and a store-visit to tell you about today. I know it's not much, but you'll just have to bare with me for a while. I'm still feeling the remainders of that headache, so I don't think I'll be around for much longer today.

There you have it then.

She turned me into a Newt!

Howdy, y'all! How are you, my dear readers, doing tonight/this morning/this afternoon/whatever the hell time it is yonder?*

*Pick the one that applies.

Is it just me, or has the Dutch weather gone totally bonkers? This year we had a winter that felt like fall, a spring that started out as winter, then just skipped straight into summer (at one point going from 253 K to 293 K within a week), the summer then just went fall, and now that fall is here, the summer's back all of a sudden. But only during weekdays. Weekends are regular fall. I wonder what winter'll bring. Maybe we'll have our own hurricane season, or a monsoon. My personal guess is Ice-age, though. Not that I'd mind, you know, tropical weather, but I just fear the worst.

We had the start of the Children's Books Week here. The theme for this year is magic. Which seems, you know, fun. But then we have our own Bible-belt as well. I've actually found some quotes, which, liberally translated, got down to about this (from a teacher): "Some of these people accuse us of leading their children into the arms of the Devil." and "They seem to think that [the organizing comittee] want to teach their kids ESP, so they can use their mind-powers to manipulate their grades." The second one would actually be a good thing, wouldn't it? I also heard at one point a "concerned mother" say that "[She didn't] want [her] child to grow up believing that magic can be good, rather that the Lord is her saviour." So, then, apparently, one magical story-book is okay, but only the one, and no others.

Okay, so I'm not into the whole religion thing, as you may see. Thus, I may be getting overexcited about this whole thing. But some people take some books just waaay too seriously. And I'm talking about both their Bibles and their Harry Potters.

To get back to business, though, today at work was the same as yesterday, save for starting a bit later due to dentistry-related matters in the morning. Still no info on next week's planning, but I expect to be gone from home for at least Tuesday and Wednesday. They may still, however, decide to take advantage of their only native French-speaker (I've heard the "French" of some of my colleagues... Cover your ears, I warn you!), but I'll leave that up to them.

Besides that, I'm listing listener stats for the September-period. This will probably take a while again, especially since I like to elaborate stuff like that. I'm just trying to catch up for now, and then I'll be able to run smoothly along. It's just some long hours in the beginning, but the objective is to follow as it comes once I'm caught up. Then I'll also be able to do some more specific stats for them.

So then, besides that, I'll guess it's another one of those cases of

No time!

Look at that time! I was almost late today!

I've spent the last couple of hours sending out a ton of e-mails asking people to check their stats and asking them to inform me of any change, all the while updating when I got responses, so I've been rather busy tonight. Still 15 more to go, then. I'll probably update the bulk of the info tomorrow.

Other then that, I sent a card on snail-mail as well today. I hope it doesn't take too long to arrive. Otherwise it may lose all relevance, you know.

And then there was the paid job in the morn, which was business as usual.

All in all, not much of interest today, unless you call someone still using snail-mail interesting.

So then, because of that, and because I still have some work to do,

I hear they have the "internet" on "computers" now...

So that's what they call the Monday. This is the last week before the next fair, which is in Brussels, so starting next Monday, I may not be around all the time again. But that's for next week.

Work is getting busy, then, as you might guess. I don't know yet the full planning for next week (last time they were rather late too - this seems normal, then), so I'll keep you posted as soon as I know.

I got hooked up to my new digital workplace, and I've asked for the complete tour to get me started. I'll just have to wait and see what comes of it.

Other than that, well, once again, nothing ground-breaking today. I'm currently still exploring my new stuff, and getting acquainted with that whole story. So there's not much today, then.

See ya!

New gig

Well, what on earth is up with blogger this weekend? Twice in a row now that they had a "1 hour" maintenance period that lasted all bloody night! Shoot! And here I was wanting to tell you all about nothing last night!

Yesterday was horrid. Horrid, horrid, horrid. I tried setting up a WiFi, so I could get my laptop online, but it just doesn't seem to care. I can receive with my laptop, but my router won't send, damn it!

Today was something else, though. I now I haven't told any of you (save a few exceptions) what I was going to do today, but for those who didn't know yet, I went to Leerdam this afternoon. I had an appointment at 15:00, but due to the local railway system, I arrived at 14:35. Better early than late, I always think, so that wasn't a problem. The appointment I had was with a couple of people from an online radio-station, looking for volunteers. I volunteered for a position in their administration, as I don't mind the radio all that much, but the experience is something that could always be useful in the future. They should be setting me up right about now, and I'll receive their messages about what I'm supposed to do in the following week, although the first thing seems to be about cleaning up and reorganizing their personell-data and contacts-list.

So there you have it. I have more to do from now on, then. I warned them once more about the occasional hours I have with my paying job, but that wasn't a problem. That kind of thing is what you get from working with volunteers, so they were prepared for that.

It's funny to see how that whole thing was organized from this guy's house, though. It gives the whole thing that familiar feel.

After that, then, the whole railway-thing made me not come home untill, ooh, 22:00, so I didn't have a lot of time to do anything else tonight. Which is why I'll leave you here.

See ya!
